Cauldron in the Sky

Lohagad - My last trip to Lohagad was about 7-8 years back and impression in my mind was that the trek from Malavli railway station was quite long, boring and on a tar road which was not scenic or interesting, hence visit here was never again in my list of things to do. However unexpected calling came from my friendly neighbor who wanted to a half day outing for their guests. Due to Lohagad's proximity, connectivity by vehicle and also not so strenuous climb, I suggested this place and they ok'ed it. We drove right up to the base of the fort and climbed up the fort.
It turned out to be a very beautiful October day.
The view is of a pond at top of the fort "Ashtakon Talav" with clouds rising from below the fort hill.

Valley of Flowers

All around us was orange color in Aurland. The spring-summer season was clearly making it mark in this region.

Gordale Scar

The summer was ending and we were trying to make the maximum out of it. The weather one weekend seemed clear, so we took the opportunity to visit Gordale Scar and Malham Cove at Yorkshire Dales National park. The place turned out to be very nice. We camped at Gordale Scar from where this cove was just about 10mins walk.

Lonely House

Route 13 towards Balestrand was like going into a Snow desert. Rarely we had any other vehicle to accompany or pass us. At places we could pass houses but all seemed deserted. All around the landscape was snow covered. Even the lakes were frozen - the only indication of it being a lake was flat snow as compared to undulating hills. These set of houses were besides Nystølsvatnet lake.

Fairyland

From the time I first saw the pictures of Geiranger, I was restless to get there. This place just seemed to out of fairy tales - snow-capped mountains just dropping into still water below, numerous waterfalls along the mountain sides and yes a huge cruise ship reaching to the village. Our experience at the place was just what we had seen. No wonder this place is in the world heritage list.

Old Man of Storr

The coastal loop around Isle of Skye took us more than expected time. We had planned for short hike at Old Man of Storr, however we had to skip it due to time. The was the one clear view of the pinnacle we got on our route.

Solitude

Same location as previous picture. Looking back on the trail the image is of peaceful green landscape with mountain lakes. Just 15-20mins ago I was in a crowd and now I was all alone without a soul in view for miles.

Borax Mines

Thought I should change the theme from Scotland to something else from my last few pics. I picked one from archives, this one is of mid June2009. A lonely trip to Death Valley is not a good idea. Death Valley though formidable in this hot season is a landscape with so much variety and beauty that I did 3 trips totally this place. This view is of Borax mines from CA190, close to Furnace Creek Campground. I remember the heat, no people, miles of open road and dry landscape but with variety of colors.

Morning Calm

Early morning drive to Elgol. The calm Loch Slapin reflected colors of the dawn.

Mountains, Stream, Meadows, Sea

A surprise bend as we started our day tour around the Isle of Skye. At this bend we encountered a big waterfall which was folked by  number of tourist buses and cars.

Dream Homes

Dream homes - Isle of Skye. The coastal drive on A87 was very scenic. Fortunately we were blessed with very nice weather. These bungalows were sea facing and in midst of scenic beauty.

Serenity

After passing through the beautiful region of Lake Lamond and Glencoe it was nearly 4pm and we had to reach Isle of Skye for night halt. The still water, evening sun and low hanging clouds made a wonderful view at Loch Cluanie.

You are Invited

It was quite late when we started from Woking for our Scotland road trip - about 6:30pm and we reached Abbington for our night halt by about 1:30am. The next morning as we came out for breakfast, it was then we noticed that the views from the hotel were quite nice even when it was just by the motorway.

Misty Cauldron

We did a 4 day road trip to North Scotland spending about a day at Isle of Skye. The landscapes as we approached Glencoe on A82 were very scenic. We did not get clear sky, but had clouds accompany and fortunately no rain. I guess, the preservation of the clear mountain summit views by clouds gives a different mystery to the landscape.

Palace of Versailles

Latona fountain of Versailles: It turned out to be a clear but windy day when I visited Versailles palace with my friend. After browsing the palace we went to the gardens behind the palace. The approach from the palace is quite beautifully laid with number of fountains.
