The Wiggly Road

One of the attractions in Norway in our trip was to driving on Trollstigen. However this route was closed due to an avalanche just a week before. It was a huge disappointment for us. However during our course of the trip we had numerous occasions  to experience similar routes. This one is on Rv13 going down towards Balestrand.

Place to Rest

It was late when we reached our destination for the night. The camping place at Gudvangen, was nested in midst of mountains. Even at 8pm the mountain peaks reflected the golden sunlight. It was an experience to sleep in our small cabin with slight waterfall sound in the background and looking at mountain peak through the window. Even at 2pm in the night I did not need a torch to find the restroom in the campsite.

Blue Arrow

Driving in Norway was an experience in itself.  After our stay at Gudvagen, we had planned to drive to Flam via the Aurlandsfjellet scenic route. However the high pass was closed due to snow and we had to return and make our journey through  Lærdalstunnelen. the longest tunnel in the world, which is 24.5 kms. The dark tunnel long was made alive by this blue light in one of the bigger sections of the tunnel.

Misty Route

More of the monsoon magic drives to Sinhagad. Though I am from Pune and the fort is only about 50kms from my place, I myself was surprised with the beauty of the place on this day. Being a weekday, it was not crowded and we could enjoy the place at our leisure. The mist over the day used to get dense and sparse giving us glimpses of the village and the surrounding ranges once in a while.

The Green Tunnel

One of the bus trips to Suratkal. We were looking for a short-cut the beach from the bus-stop. found this path leading towards the beach. As we reached other end, it was closed with huge iron gate. We did some gate-climbing to drop onto the beach.

The Mysterious Path

All paths inherently are unknown. You pass from one unknown to the other ... move out of a dark tunnel and see misty path ahead. Guess life would not be as interesting if we knew what was ahead ...

This was taken on the famed Sakleshpur Railway Track trek - This is the abandoned track (there was news that this was going to start again) between Mangalore and Bangalore. The track passes over amazing 40ft high bridges to .5km tunnels (with bats inside shitting down :)), views of numerous waterfalls and streams - especially during monsoons.

Autumn Twilight

Redmond, WA driveway of one of the Microsoft buildings - The image in my mind of working in Redmond is that of vibrant autumn. It was a pleasure to walk out of office after a long day and let the view take away all the stress.

Walk in the Clouds

Carnac Point (correct me if I am wrong), Mahabaleshwar - Very nice weather and clouds engulfing us all around.

Desert Lane

Visited Scotty's Castle during the fast paced trip of Death Valley. It was in peak summer and I was looking for a picnic area with some shade to have my lunch. I had given up hope of getting any shade after wandering around Furnace Creek, Stove Pipe etc during the morning. Had planned to visit this place and head back to store at Stove Pipe for quick lunch. It was quite pleasant to see an oasis at this place and with picnic tables with shade provided by huge palm trees. Had a peaceful lunch of sandwich and orange juice, then took a stroll around the place.

Where can you Escape ?

Trip to Glacier National Park - The Going-to-the-sun road was closed and we wanted to visit the east entrance. So we had to circle around the park. The lonely roads with vast flat land were striking features of this drive. The dark clouds added to the thrill. The sky seemed to be saying - where can you escape now .. while the road was our only way to escape the thunder-showers !

Into The Unknown

Navajo Trail, Bryce Canyon National Park - This was day1 of our 10 day journey. We had just decided not to do any hiking in preparation for our trans-canyon hike across the Grand Canyon. However after spending most of the afternoon driving around Bryce Canyon, this short hike enticed us. Turned out to be very beautiful hike with golden color of earth enhanced in the evening sun.

Into The Blue

After a considerable break I had been trying to decide where to go out. Looking for places nearby, narrowed down to Pinnacles National Monument. I read that the Bear Gulch Cave was to be closed by end of March as the bats would return back for breeding season. With only one weekend remaining, decided to go to Pinnacles. CA Highway 25 used to reach there turned out to be very scenic and very green. On my return I stopped at one point to capture this.

The Twist

On way back from San Jacinto State Park - It was a two day trip, first day was sunny at Joshua Tree NP. The second day was all cloudy and around San Jacinto, it was all foggy. On way back as we lost height the fog cleared to give cloudy landscape of the nearby low regions.

Dreamy Path

In my company photography DL, it was the first time I heard of Orton effect - it was an effect I had seen in lot many pics, but did not know how it was achieved. As I read more about it on the net, it was definitely something quite tricky in film age, but considering today's digital photography it is just a matter of minutes of post processing.
This picture was on way to Hoh rain forest in Olympic national park - around mid-Oct and mid of fall season. It was quite sometime that our team of photo enthusiasts spent on this stretch to capture the fall magic.

The White Carpet

Posting after a long time ! Very luckily got a very nice Saturday when my friends landed up in Seattle and we went to Hurricane Ridge. The mountains and the trails seemed to be covered by fresh snow which had just started in the region - early winter. As usual I had clicked pics with 0EV resulting in all the snow snow pics coming out under-exposed. As I downloaded the pics, it struck me that I had read sometime back - snow pics as rule of thumb should be +2EV. The above pic was thus processed for brightness. The trail was the Hurricane Hill trail in the Olympic national park.
