The Claws

Another View:

We wanted to be at Zebriskie Point for sunset. However our detour at 20 Mule Team Canyon took us quite some time. The sun just set as we arrived at Zebriskie point. So we missed the evening colors of the landscape here - well that's no reason to get b/w picture :), but it gives looks better than the color version.

Artist’s Palettes

The color version:

The monochrome version:

More abstracts from Death Valley. Well, there is actually an Artist's drive where you can see colorful hills like these. We had started very early (3 am) from LA to visit Death Valley and unfortunately I fell asleep on Artist's drive. I caught the above on the 20 Mule Team Canyon drive.

Into The Unknown

Navajo Trail, Bryce Canyon National Park - This was day1 of our 10 day journey. We had just decided not to do any hiking in preparation for our trans-canyon hike across the Grand Canyon. However after spending most of the afternoon driving around Bryce Canyon, this short hike enticed us. Turned out to be very beautiful hike with golden color of earth enhanced in the evening sun.
Acknowledgement - My wife clicked this picture as I really wanted to be part of it.

Greetings!

It had been quite some time and was fed up with work - long working hrs and no time for self !
Finally got time to do a small hike today at Stough Canyon Nature center in Burbank. The three mile hike was quite refreshing. I had started at around 6:00pm and had to run down to make sure I am out of park before dusk. Managed to scrape through. The trail was not as picturesque as I was used to around Bellevue, WA. I guess I will have to spend time in processing to make the pics interesting!

Zooming Past

This is Zoom Burst experiment. It was a cold evening at Ocean Shores, WA. The tide seemed to have receded and the wetness of the beach was reflecting the skies ... however the sun was hidden in the clouds and we missed the sunset and more importantly the beautiful colors which come about after sunset. This abstract makes me feel about the journey we are going through ... life just zooming past ... do you remember the colors ??

The Wall

Glaciers from St. Mary's Lake in Glacier National Park ... one of fragile places of our planet. Glaciers are fast disappearing due to Global Warming. Its sad to think that this magnificent sight is only for a few years to come. When we visited the national park, we were rightly told by the forest rangers to visit this area for "dramatic effect" of the glaciers.

Pillars of the Past

Golconda Fort: Though the place was crowded on a weekend, I managed to get this secluded shot of one of the stone passages in the vast fort. The stone walls have a way of telling their own story. The light and sound show in the evening is definitely recommended for anyone visiting the fort.

Looming Storm

May2008, McDonnald lake, Glacier National Park: It was our last day at Glacier National Park. We had camped at Sprague Creek campground and we had to leave the park by afternoon back home. The morning plan was to visit Bowman lake. So early morning we started and were rushing towards Bowman lake. As I was driving along the Going-to-the-sun road, I noticed reflection of clouds in McDonnald lake the trees and we just took the next turnout to land at a picnic spot. The view was astounding, even with lot of time constraint we did not even notice how 20mins went by. This is a crop shot, with b/w processing. I could not get details of the mountains due to cloudy sky and opposite direction, hence the color shot misses details. Posting the b/w version as I feel it does not need those details ;)
