Against All Odds

Same trip as this one. The next day I caught the early morning shuttle and reached the last stop (Temple of Sinawava). After the previous hectic day I wanted to just take a walk along the floor of the Zion Canyon. Also it would give me a chance to capture some wild-life. The views along banks of the Virgin River the with towering canyon walls make one feel claustrophobic and realize how small we are in the overall scheme of things. It also makes you wonder how the seemingly innocent river has carved out the path against all odds with persistence and patience.

By the River During Fall

One fall evening, we just started from home to catch some fall colors around Seattle. The simplest drive was to Snouqualmie falls. We could not catch much of the colors. This pic was taken by the Snouqualmie river. It was cloudy and not much light below ... the picture I got gave quite underexposed below half. It has been post processed to get an HDR.

Fiery Canyon

Just downstream of Glenn Canyon Dam and upstream of Horseshoe bend: It was beautiful warm evening just after our visit to the Glenn Canyon Dam Visitor center. The walls of the canyon still seemed to be hot and the water down looking calm. The colors, the snake river, and the closed canyon walls gave a very good perspective.

Peeking through the woods

Walking alone on a blurry pathway, through the woods, just pleasant temperature, freshness in the air, can hear the birds chirping, with some water splashing ... and at times the woods open up ...

Besides the river

Jul2008 Yellowstone: This is taken just above Upper Yellowstone falls along a trail which goes along the river towards the bridge. Somehow I like this shot, cannot figure out why. It has been processed for sharpness, saturation and cropped a bit.
