The Gateway

Roosevelt Arch - the north entrance to Yellowstone National Park - gateway to amazing geology. It was just thrilling to know that we were to enter a huge volcanic caldera.

Lower Yellowstone Falls

Location: Artist's Point - The view of Lower Yellowstone Falls (same point at Artist Point, upstream view). The evening light brought out the colors of the canyon and the waterfall in background was just icing on the cake. It was tricky to get a shot with the waterfall in the shadows.

V for Victory !

Posting from Hong Kong :) Nothing much to do in transit ... 8 hrs halt !
So this pic was captured in Yellowstone national park. It was evening and the golden back-light was just perfect. However I did not notice my camera settings till I downloaded this pics ... it was way underexposed. Still I love the back-light on the antlers ...

Sun on Earth

Symbolically Sun-On-Earth - This was shot at Yellowstone National Park and the location is I think is Prismatic Springs. The striking blue color of clear water and orange of the sulphur-iron gives a very colorful look to the springs.

Bouquet for you !

Lively, fresh and natural bouquet for you ! This was waiting for us in Yellowstone national park as we took the Firehole lake drive. It was all wilderness and green grass around. This bunch seemed just being presented to us as got out at one spot.

Remnants of Disaster

Yellowstone national park - This is at Mammoth Hot Springs - our first pit-stop at Yellowstone as we entered via the North Entrance. The huge caldera of Yellowstone has a variety of geo-thermal phenomenons. Our visit was around summer ... and this was mid day and very hot when we visited this location. These dry tree trunks try to tell us the story of the past.

Whirlpools

Amazing to see the events in time compression. The slow shutter speed collected the frames to give this view of whirlpools. This was a very mysterious ambiance - cloudy sky, rain just coming in, a canyon river and all this inside a big active volcano - just to think of it gives an exciting feeling. The place is en route on Firehole Canyon drive in Yellowstone national park.
