Ganesh Festival

One of the stage setups during Ganesh Chaturthi in Pune. Same time as this one. During this festival each mandal will display Lord Ganesh along with a message - it could be via a setup like this one reminding us of places, events, people etc. or could be plain display of art like paintings, light-song dances, stage performances. The 10 days of this festival are very eventful and people just go in the streets visiting each display and it could take a night or two just to cover one area!

Dagadusheth Halwai Ganapati 2010

It was Ganesh Chaturthi time in Pune and an opportunity I did not want to miss. On the 8th day of the festival me and one of my friends landed in Mandai area at 11:00pm. It was a grand fare - the lights, sound and the crowd. The above was taken after navigating through a huge crowd at Dagadusheth Halwai Ganapati. The idol was placed not in the usual temple, but at a huge podium constructed with lots of decorations and lights - it was a real grand view.
