Mt. Shuksan in Picture Lake

One of the amazing days ... the same day as "Suspended" . On our way back we stopped at picture lake to take the snap of Mt. Shuksan reflected in the lake. This was the second try as during the first try, the lake was full of small waves and ripples that there was no reflection. This time we were amazed as it as quite late in the day and we did not expect the lake to be so still.

Valley of Fire

It was month of June and peak summer when we visited the desert lands of Utah and Arizona. Utah has amazing landscapes carved out of limestone. Its just amazing to see the remnants of the big structures and imagine the rest has weathered through the time ... The redness of the rocks just comes alive in summer sun ! This pic was taken at Arches National Park.

Snoqualmie Falls in Fall

It was sometime in Oct'09 - one of my friends from Baltimore had been down to Seattle. It was cloudy and drizzling ... still I wanted to show him around nature places around the city and Snouqualmie Falls figured on top. When we reached the viewpoint, it was low light - cloudy and drizzling. I wanted a long exposure shot of the falls, but could not get right viewpoint (without getting my camera wet) on the tripod. I had to manage this handheld.

By the River During Fall

One fall evening, we just started from home to catch some fall colors around Seattle. The simplest drive was to Snouqualmie falls. We could not catch much of the colors. This pic was taken by the Snouqualmie river. It was cloudy and not much light below ... the picture I got gave quite underexposed below half. It has been post processed to get an HDR.

Are you lonely?

Seems the lone tree is waiting for the spring and sunshine ... This was at St. Mary's Lake in Glacier National Park. Members of our group have a mixed feeling on the timing when we visited the park - some say it was not good as most of the time it was cloudy and drizzling. I consider it was a great time to visit the park to view the raw and natural ambiance it gave in the cloudy and rainy environment - an experience of being humbled and being helpless - the constant fear of making sure shelter is around ... The nature's beauty is just amazing ...

Zooming Past

This is Zoom Burst experiment. It was a cold evening at Ocean Shores, WA. The tide seemed to have receded and the wetness of the beach was reflecting the skies ... however the sun was hidden in the clouds and we missed the sunset and more importantly the beautiful colors which come about after sunset. This abstract makes me feel about the journey we are going through ... life just zooming past ... do you remember the colors ??

The Bridge

This one is on the trail to Bridal Veil falls by the historic Columbia River Highway. It was a late fall visit to the Gorge and with feeble expectations to see some fall colors. Bridal Veil falls was on our visiting list ... could not get much fall colors - the area here seems to be evergreen.

Osprey

One of the saved shots from the only one proper Bird Photography session. This one was flying overhead and I had to crop nearly 50% of the image. Birds still remain a challenge for me ...

Khul Ja Sim-Sim

The entrance seems to be through the falls - just like the Ali Baba & 40 thieves cave. This pic is of Multnomah falls in Oregon. The white balance is not correct but I had taken this only in JPEG, so could not correct it properly.

Do You Get the Feeling ...

One of the many (!!) cursed habits I have - I like to take viewpoints with my shoes in it ! The reason is that the viewer (and me later as well) should experience the feel of the view. And believe me though the pic may look scary, it is not ... i am quite a cautious person.
This pic was taken at Channel Islands - for me the most windy place visited till date. The winds just did not stop and kept howling day and night. On last day when Almighty"turned-off the fan" was when we could enjoy the place ... though it was a different enjoyment in the wind too :).

Hidden Treasure

So many beautiful things are just around the corner of the path we travel - we just have to look around to notice it. Same thing happened as we did a trail in Quanault lake in Olympics National Forest.

Between Shades of Gray

We had been to hiking to a lake. After a long hike through tree cover the trail went by side of a rock wall. It seemed suddenly the world changed into Black and White.

Fiery Canyon

Just downstream of Glenn Canyon Dam and upstream of Horseshoe bend: It was beautiful warm evening just after our visit to the Glenn Canyon Dam Visitor center. The walls of the canyon still seemed to be hot and the water down looking calm. The colors, the snake river, and the closed canyon walls gave a very good perspective.

Illusion

Same place as "Looming Storm" - May2008, McDonnald lake, Glacier National Park: It was our last day at Glacier National Park. We had camped at Sprague Creek campground and we had to leave the park by afternoon back home. The morning plan was to visit Bowman lake. So early morning we started and were rushing towards Bowman lake. As I was driving along the Going-to-the-sun road, I noticed reflection of clouds in McDonnald lake the trees and we just took the next turnout to land at a picnic spot. The view was astounding, even with lot of time constraint we did not even notice how 20mins went by.
